Bar Review of Vintage in Green Bay, WI

It was Wednesday night and a girlfriend and I were out and about Downtown Green Bay. I was on a mission; I wanted to do some bubbly spirited beverage research on a new bar. My life is so hard sometimes. Anyway, it’s the joint directly above Café Espresso called Vintage. Vintage has taken over the On the Rocks bar space. I’ve heard some buzz about Vintage in the past few weeks, but I haven’t been able to go and check it out for myself.
Walking or driving by you can’t miss Vintage. The doorway is, well, bright. It looks like orange and white sun rays covering the door. I dig the door and you will too. As I said before, this bar is located above Café Espresso, meaning you have to walk upstairs. Some of my friends cringe about walking up a set of stairs especially in the winter time, but keep in mind people there is a hand rail and, AND, you have a goal – the refreshments are up there!
Once you get up the stairs and into the Promised Land, you see that the bar is located to the right. Directly in front of the staircase are hi top tables and then the restrooms. We walked over to the bar and grabbed a couple of stools towards the side closer to Washington Street. The music was bumpin’ and the lights were dimmed low with loads of candles lit about the bar. While the atmosphere was in relax mode, I was in cocktail mode.

I ordered a vodka soda water for $4 and my girlfriend ordered a malbec wine for $6. My vodka soda is classy enough for me, but Vintage has a Wine List, Scotch List, Bourbon/Whiskey List, Cognac/Brandy List, Bottled Beer List, Draught Beer List and a Specialty Beer List for all you fancy people. Pretty cool. I should mention the bartenders are super friendly and awesome. So this is me mentioning them.
Vintage has definitely done some remodeling since its On the Rocks days. The stripper pole is gone and so are the pool table, dart boards and anything else that made it look like a college hangout. In place of the stripper pole corner is a booth seating wall and tables. Also, there are large garage doors that are windows and most likely will be open in the better weather months. They completely cover the would-be-wall to Washington Street.
The décor inside has an art deco motif. It has teal colors, backlighting, changing light colors, and geometric shapes. Go there and see for yourself. As for the age group, you have the younger folks, the older ones, and all in between. It seems to me that Vintage is off to a great start. They’ve got the beverages, kickass bartenders and a chill atmosphere, what else could you want?
