The Mighty Short Bus Description

The Mighty Short Bus is quickly outgrowing its roots in Madison, WI. The Mighty Short Bus has been compared to southern rock bands such as The Black Crowes, and Lynard Skynard, but that is only half of their sound… maybe less. The music goes a step further, infusing their would-be southern rock sound with the cold truth of a winter’s day, giving them a true Midwest Rock sound. Shows all over the Midwest have become the norm, and outward expansion of this ROGUE NATION is imminent.

The Mighty Short Bus Band Review at Bentley's in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Might Short Bus Live at Bentley's in Green Bay, WisconsinSarah - GreenBayNightLife.com Band ReviewsBy Sarah

If you weren't at Bentley's to catch the Mighty Short Bus band, first of all WOW did you miss out, and second, you may have to travel to hear their next gig. MSB, hails from Madison and is no small hitter on the music scene. The five member band is made up of Ben Stitgen-drums, Josh Smith-keys/harmonica and backing vocals, Nic Adamany-lead guitar and vocals, and Frank Busch on lead vocals and guitars. The band formed in 2003, with a roadhouse rock sound that quickly earned them a faithful following across the Midwest and put them center stage at many festivals such as: Summerfest, Waterfest, and Taste of Madison. Listening to them play it's easy to understand why they've earned these spots and why they are playing 140 plus shows a year. Their music ROCKS (I know that word is way over used- but it does!) and they can play it ALL. Strong overtones from band influences such as Black Crowes, Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and the Rolling Stones. There was an awesome rendition of the Doors "Roadhouse Blues" that I swear they were channeling Jim Morrison. MSB doesn't hold anything back when it comes to singing and playing, they jam in an instrumental mesh of sound that radiates and pulsates with a tangible energy. With two nationwide released albums When The Time Comes and most recent Rogue Nation there are plenty of great originals the band can draw from. Their original, "Evil," is powerful and a song you find yourself singing days later. I had the opportunity to chat with lead singer, Frank, who by the way is the brother of Pulaski band director, Tom Busch, musical talent runs thick in their family. He had many fascinating things to say about music two in particular that really stuck with me, "Singing is great and the journey is just as enjoyable," and also that the Mighty Short Bus has a goal to be the biggest band in Wisconsin. That is a mighty tall order but this band packs all the talent needed to not fall short. A road trip to hear this band is worth it.
