Restaurant Review of The Pub in Green Bay, WI

The Pub in Green Bay, WI

I went to dinner at the Hyatt Hotel in their bar restaurant, The Pub, for dinner. The Hyatt Hotel is in downtown Green Bay which is located on the East side. The atmosphere in The Pub is warm and cozy with an old time decor. There are high tin ceilings with warm red brick pillars. For dining there are many large comfy booths with flat screen TVs that are located high above for easy viewing. The bar is very large and circular and is situated in the center of the room.

I sat myself at one of the booths and my server came quickly to bring me the menu and to tell me of their specials for that evening. I inquired which entrees would she suggest and she replied that the 10oz. Sirloin, which was one of the specials for that day, was very good. I then decided to order the Sirloin dinner which was priced at $15.00. It included a garden salad, green beans and a choice of french fries or mashed potatoes; I chose the mashed. The Pub Restaurant Review in Green Bay, WI

After a small wait my salad came. It was small to medium in portion. The mixed lettuce was not very fresh and the Ranch dressing which I ordered was served on the side. I was disappointed in the flavor of the dressing, the quality was very unsavory. Soon afterward my entrée was served. The 10oz. Sirloin steak was served not as a whole steak, as I assumed it would be, but instead as 3 thin slices. The green beans and the mashed potatoes were on the same plate with the steak and placed on my mashed potatoes were containers of butter which was tacky and unappetizing.  My food was served lukewarm and my slices of meat were on the chewy and dry side. The steak was served with a crab cheese sauce which did help the flavor of the unacceptable steak. The mashed potatoes were instant and the green beans, which were made in a sweet light sauce with pieces of pecans, would have had the most pleasing flavor if they had been served hot. My dinner reminded me of a frozen TV dinner and I expected more from an established hotel such as the Hyatt. My meal was very lackluster but the server throughout my meal was very pleasant, attainable, and had a very good knowledge of their menu and wine list.

Bar Review of The Pub in Green Bay, WI

END - Wanna Be Bar, Tavern, and Pub Reviewer in Green Bay, WIBy END
Shuffleboard at Hotel Sierra in Green Bay, WIJuly 13, 2011
A girlfriend and I wanted to sit and have a long chit chat over a glass of wine. But it was a Sunday. Oh, where to go, where to go? Then it popped into my brilliant mind: Hotel Sierra. We cruised on down the way, parked the car in their huge lot and were soon sippin' on the good stuff.

Hotel Sierra is yes, a hotel, but it's a hotel with a dark and cozy pub inside aptly named The Pub. They are open nightly, ready to serve you whatever your heart's content. The Hotel Sierra's bar and restaurant area is broken down into two levels. The downstairs is the bar part full of booths, tables, darts, shuffle board, a popcorn machine, large flat screen TV's and of course a large circular bar. The upstairs has plenty of tables and a bird's eye view of the surrounding hotel lobby and the bar. We opted for the lower level and sat at the bar. The Pub has a different drink special for each night of the week and since it was Sunday, you can get Bloody Mary's or Screwdrivers on the cheaps. Alas, we were in the mood for wine and were forced to suffer the consequences of full price. Kidding. Their house wine runs $4.50 a glass and boy, oh boy, do they fill those suckers up. Also, I might add on Wednesday's nights is their $5 a glass or ½ off bottle wine night. This is not for their house wine. Obvs. The Pub carries a limited selection of more expensive reds and whites.

Shuffleboard at Hotel Sierra in Green Bay, WII shouldn't have to tell you that Hotel Sierra has more than wine to offer, but I will. On draught they have Coors Light, Miller Light, Blue Moon, Fat Tire, Guinness, and Sam Adams. In bottles they have more of the Coors, Miller, and Bud products you know and love along with some others such as, Spotted Cow, Corona, several of the Leinies line, Amstel Light, Heineken, Bass, Stella, Hacker-Pschorr, and Smithwicks. The Pub also has an enormous bar full of every kind of liquor imaginable. There are more than a few ways to drink up, Buttercup.

For anyone who says who would drink at a hotel, I would proudly raise my hand. Hotel Sierra's The Pub is dark and cozy with a relaxed atmosphere. The exposed brick pillars, dark rich wood bar, and the decorative tin molded ceiling (I'm not really sure if that is what the ceiling actually is, but it's cool looking) totally makes this an underrated hot spot.
