Bar Review of The Haystack in Green Bay, WI

A best bud and I were out cruisin’ the streets, looking for trouble. That’s only a partially true statement. We were out cruisin’ but neither one of us likes trouble. However, what we do like are cocktails and beer. And because we live in the glorious city of Green Bay, cocktails and beer are abound. We made our way to the UWGB area and found just the place: The Haystack.
The Haystack is a somewhat new establishment; they are open daily, serve
lunch and dinner along with plenty of booze. I’ve heard they have awesome burgers but I had a one track mind that night. Let’s just say food was not on the menu for the evening. From the outside Haystack looks kinda like a house, a grayish blue house with a large parking lot. You can’t miss the place, it’s directly off of University and they have a huge sign easily visible from the street with daily specials.
I was told that this bar, besides Stir-Ups is Green Bay’s country bar. After hearing that and then going there for myself I would say yes and no to that. The name and décor is more on the country side, but there was a diverse group of people there, and the music playing in the background was old school rock and folk. With that being said, in my HUMBLED OPINION, Haystack is more of an everything bar. There’s pool tables, darts, gambling machines, an interactive shuffle board table, large flat screen TV’s, music and friendly bartenders. What more
could you really want? How about some strong drinks? They got that too. I ordered my fave (vodka soda water) and my bf wanted a Wild Turkey and Coke. The bartender was certainly not shy about pouring our liquor either. They tasted do delicious that we simply had to order another round. Our 4 drinks cost us 13 dollas to holla. If you’re not in the mood for any of their liquor choices you can always choose beer. On tap they carry Bud Light, Miller Light, PBR and I want to say MGD. In bottles they have more of the Miller, Bud and Coors products you know and love while also sitting on a few imports. Haystack even has wine, Sutter Home wine in little bottles. The actual bar is super long and L-shaped with plenty of stools
around for you and your friends. If the bar is full and you still want to sit, then chose from one of the several hi-top tables. Haystack also has one of the coolest bathroom doors I’ve seen. Yes, I know, I’m writing about bathrooms. My mother would be so proud. ANYWAY, the door leading to the women’s says Heifers and the boy’s say Bulls. I got kick out of that. Sunday is Funday with free pool and on Wednesday nights you can enjoy karaoke.
