Restaurant Review of Savvy's in Green Bay, WI

I went to dine at Savvy's restaurant for some Italian cuisine, which is located on the West side of Green Bay. I was nicely surprised when I entered Savvy's; from the outside it looks deceivingly like a small strip mall pizza place, but as you enter it is a very large, newly renovated, and tastefully decorated. The first thing you see is the open kitchen where you can watch your food being prepared and out in front there is a long counter showcasing a variety of freshly baked pizzas which are displayed behind glass cases. For more casual dining there is a long counter with stools which face large picture windows that you can look out of. The flooring is made of slate tiles, with modern sand colored brick walls and arched doorways. To the right is a large dining room with newer carpeting, and recessed lighting amidst beautiful tiered ceilings. There are various pictures of Italy, and a variety of framed mirrors decorating the walls. Also situated in the dining area are two nice large flat screen TVs, and for seating there is a choice of either booths or tables. The lighting was cozy and everything was immaculate.
My server was very personable; they brought out my menu and asked if I would like anything to drink first. Besides non alcoholic beverages they offer a choice of white or red wines, $5.00 for a glass and $18.00 for a bottle. There is also a decent selection of beer. For starters I ordered one 18” inch slice of pizza for $2.00 and added 4 extra ingredients for only 25 cents each: fresh mushrooms, pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage and onions. For my entree I ordered the Spaghetti with meatballs for $8.00 which included a side salad and two garlic knots. My pizza slice tasted very good it had a thick covering of mozzarella cheese; the Italian sausage was nice and spicy and I liked that they use fresh mushrooms not canned. My side salad was very fresh and was heaped on a dinner plate, it was nicely presented with a few grape tomatoes, black olives, red onion, cucumbers, croutons and dressing drizzled nicely over it. My spaghetti with meatballs looked fabulous, the portion was huge. My pasta was mixed in a red sauce with the burst of fresh garlic coming through. And the pasta was covered with a very thick layer of melted mozzarella cheese and on top there were three meatballs, which put together must weigh a good half pound. The meatballs had a soft texture and integrated well with the dish. My garlic knots were warm garlic rolls shaped into a knot with melted butter spread on top and they were delicious. Throughout the meal the server was quite attentive. Savvy's is an Italian American restaurant with modest prices and you will not leave hungry.
