For dinner I went to Nukeo Thai restaurant which has relocated to the historic Broadway district on the west side of downtown Green Bay. It is a charming restaurant which serves Thai cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere. The interior is small and very clean. The restaurant's main colors are maroon, gold, and cream with some blue, green, and gold plaid material for more accent draped on various chairs throughout. The ceilings and walls still have the original pressed tin tiles intact and also have the original hardwood floors. The front of the restaurant has large picture windows with a few large tables for dining and directly behind is a small seating area. There is a large bamboo waterfall situated in the corner and this when added with the soft Thai music in the background gives off a tranquil feeling. Along the wall to the side running towards the back of the restaurant are some large booths with more seating for dining.
Adorning the walls and sitting on some small wooden ledges are a variety of beautiful Asian dolls and also displayed is some metal artwork of birds in flight. The tables have dark brown vinyl tablecloths with tall candle votives and pre-rolled silverware in paper napkins placed on top.
My server came quickly to give me a menu and to take my beverage order. She was very friendly with a sweet smile. I decided to start out with an appetizer of spring rolls for $3.00 and for my entree I ordered the dinner selection of a Red Curry dish for $10.95 which includes a side of steamed rice and your choice of beef, chicken, pork, or tofu; I chose chicken, and for another $2.00 I chose to add shrimp. My appetizer came first and was presented very attractively. The spring rolls consisted of shredded lettuce, cilantro, carrots, rice thread noodles, and white chicken meat wrapped in a rice wrapper and topped with their in house brown sauce with crushed peanuts. The rolls were fresh and delicate. The sauce was spicy sweet and with the salty crushed peanuts it made for a lovely flavor. My entree came soon after; it was served in a very colorful and delightful style. My red curry entree looked and smelled delectable; it consisted of thinly sliced white chicken meat, large shelled shrimp, green and red peppers, broccoli, onions, carrots, mushrooms, and bamboo which were sauteed and swimming in a red curry coconut milk sauce.
The vegetables were cut in large pieces and were tender as was the chicken. The sauce was divine. It had a mild sweet flavor and paired well with all the ingredients. For the ending to my meal my bill came with two hard piece of wrapped Thai candy. Nukeo Thai was a truly wonderful dining experience.
