Have you ever noticed that when someone is really funny they tell a joke without cracking a smile then when the time is right and you’re just starting to catch your breath, they let another joke go; you can’t help it, you go into convulsions and you start telling yourself, ok, if I don't get some air I'm going to puke or die. When things calm down you finally realize the joke was so true! Honestly I hate comedy music; to me I always thought comedians use mediocre music as a cover for their bad jokes. The majority of comedy rock acts would get a thumbs down from me. In fact the only reason I saw Nice Peter tonight was because the remains of the totally awesome band Wally Dogger opened for them. So yes, I had tomatoes in my pockets just waiting for the first lame joke of the night, until I ran into a friend that had been following these guys for awhile, in fact he went down to Appleton to catch them the night before. My friend and his girl convinced me that I best stick around. If there is one thing I hate more than seeing something lame, it is missing something that was awesome and having to hear about it from everyone else. You know the phrase "Man you should have stuck around it was great!" yeah I don't like it either. Now here is the thing, I can't even tell you 90% of what went on or what the songs and jokes were about. I'm not even going to add a link to his website. Why? Don't get me wrong, my friend was right, Nice Peter was cool, but this was all adult material, so find Nice Peter for yourself; that's what Google is for!

Peter plays and acoustic guitar that runs into a digital delay pedal that he uses to layer with loops. He is a really good singer and great comedian with a mid to high tone voice and is usually harmonizing with Pauly Doerr on bass. Where this band does not go wrong is not giving up on the music; it is delivered seriously and with attitude. The best part about this live show is that Peter is constantly bantering with the crowd between and even during songs. Don't sit up front if you don't want to get messed with. Wait, I take that back, I was chilling out way in the back by the pool table and we still managed to get messed with. The antics in between songs are almost half the show. I have no idea how these guys keep a straight face when they are playing this stuff. Pauly, who was on bass did look like he was about to crack a few times throughout the two hour show. Matt Donehoo was relaxed and kicking it on the drums whether it was a laid back groove or a fast shuffle. There is allot, and mean allot of heady humor in the show mixed with, well everything bad, but bad as in good, Peter even turns the music back onto itself with songs like "50 Cent is a p*ssy" and "Cover Bands." There is allot of improv and interaction in the show. The fans at IQ's Bar on University Ave in Green Bay were all having a great time and you can add me to that list. I can't wait till they come back. That's right I was won over, Tomatoes anyone?
