We're re-doing all the trim in our house and it is taking F-O-R-E-V-E-R. I've been kinda MIA trying to get it finished. You don't realize how many windows and doors you really have until you do something like this. And you know how they make it look easy and somewhat fun on that HGTV station? Well, it's not fun. At all. It is easy, just extremely time consuming for two people with regular jobs and zero carpentry skills. With that being said, a very stubborn BFF of mine came over and dragged me kicking and screaming into her car to take me out for drinks, saw dust in my hair and all. After realizing my fate was sealed I settled down in her car and noticed we were heading towards the De Pere neighborhood.

La Vie Boheme is where she said she was taking me. La whatta? Not just a song in the musical Rent, La Vie Boheme is a wine bar located on George St and Wisconsin St. Even though it's right on the corner it's sort of tucked in and you don't particular notice the place until you're directly in front of it. I believe they open up around 4PM and they have Happy Hour deals until 6:30PM. You get a dollar off wine, beer or a mixed cocktail. Plus you get little snacks. There were pretzels and dip, chocolates (YUM) and ham and rye with mustard for baby sandwiches. There are also Home Run pizzas for you to purchase. La Vie Boheme specializes in European wine and beer. How do I know this? They told me so. Annnnd, the beer choices more than hinted in that direction. In bottles they carry Stella, Spaten, Peroni, Heineken, Beck's, Corona, Fat Tire and Czechvar. Take out the Corona and we could be in Eastern Europe! They also carry more American type beers too. They have Miller, Bud and Coors products too. The imports are $4 and the domestics are $3. La Vie Boheme also has many different wines. Red wines, white wines, Sparkling wines and dessert wines. They range in price from $5.50 to $8 per glass. Not in the mood for beer or wine, they have a specialty drink list and a full liquor bar to keep you happy. When you walk in the bar part is on the right and a few tables are in the middle and towards the left. We chose a seat at one of the tables by the large windows to people watch. The bartender was super nice and very good. The walls are exposed brick with artwork adorning them. The art is from local artists but I'm not sure if it is for sale, however, they do have names and numbers at the bottom of them so I'm sure you could work out a deal if your eyes spy something wonderful.

I was planning on having one glass of wine, well because I was forced to, but I ended up having a beer too. I just melted into my seat and I didn't want to leave. The atmosphere was so relaxed, the music was jazzy and the wine went right to my head. It was just what I needed. Thank you La Vie Boheme and thank you BFF.
