Restaurant Review of La Java Roasting House in Green Bay, WI
By Patricia Summerfield November 17, 2010 I went for some good coffee and a light breakfast at the new La Java coffee house, in the Howard Suamico area. It was a rainy cool early morning and some delicious freshly roasted and brewed coffee sounded very good to me. As I walked in the coffee house smelled wonderful with all the aromas of different coffee drinks being blended and brewed. The interior was bright and cheery, all done in a modern decor and looking very spotless. There are many tables for seating and to the left of the room are two areas with added comfortable sofas and chairs with a charming contemporary style fireplace to relax by. Towards the back of the room is the counter and a clear glass case showcasing their breakfast and lunch items. Above the register hanging from the ceiling are four large chalkboards with their hand written menu. To the right is a huge variety of loose leaf teas in clear plastic dispensers and throughout the coffee house hanging on the walls are various large oil paintings on canvas for sale from area artists. There is also a small area with fresh ice water and more condiments and four or five thermos filled with different coffees and hot tea to help yourself to.
You order and pay for your food at the register and then they will bring your order out to you. The lady waiting on me was most friendly, helpful, and very energetic. I ordered the quiche of the day for $5.95 and a tall coffee for $1.50. My food took a little while since it was starting to get busy with the drive thru queue and customers starting to come in. There were only two people working and they were busy. The coffee that I decided to drink was a Guatemalan dark roast; it was very pleasing in taste for the quality and freshness was very evident. The coffee had a deep flavor but was also crisp and mild, just what I needed that morning. My quiche arrived warm; it was reheated but was earlier homemade on the premises. The quiche was thick with lots of fresh spinach, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, and fresh mushrooms. It had a subtle nice flavor and the crust was flakey but did not have a buttery flavor. La Java Roasting House is a green organic and fair trade company.
