Bar Review of Keweenaw's in De Pere, WI
By END
January 27, 2011
It was late Friday night. Oh, where to go, what to do? How 'bout follow the entire town of Green Bay to the Naw? Seriously, that place was beyond packed and my partner in crime and I were happy to have picked such a happenin' hotspot.
When I was little and I would watch a movie where everything that happened was on Main Street. it was always, "just up off Main Street" or whatnot. I guess the West Side of DePere decided to follow suit. There are more than a few cool bars and restaurants just off Main Street, and Keweenaw's one of them. When my friend and I walked in the door we were greeted by the bouncer, heat, bumpin' music, and a lively crowd. We made our way to the bar and ordered a vodka soda and Bacardi seltzer. The cost was $8.25. Pretty cheap for two tall pints of bubbly. It was a little hard to get a good look at the place with all the party people in the way but Keweenaw's is somewhat in a rectangular shape. When you enter you see a few tables by the window front and then to the right is the deep side of the place. The bar lines the opposite side of the entrance and flows down the long side wall. There are other tables along the other long side wall too. At this time of night I didn't see anyone eating but I do know they have a full menu and the Naw also is home to one of the best Buck Burgers in town. So I've been told. The Keweenaw Pub has a few beers on tap and plenty more of the bottled variety. But if beer isn't your drink of choice, use your creativity and create a mixed one with their fully stocked liquor choices. Oh, and some nights, besides having drink and food specials (call the Keweenaw Pub for details) they also have a live band. I know that this Friday the Combustible Huxtables will be playing for your undivided attention. Check out our Event Calendar for the time.
Crazy Friday night crowd aside, this place is a casual pub with foods, drinks and friendly staff. My friend and I had a blast at the Naw…with the entire town of Green Bay.
