Bar Review of Jimmy Seas in Green Bay, WI

Wisconsin in the summertime is amazing. I love working on my garden, hiking around with my dog and wrapping a beautiful day up with drinks on a patio. So, on Tuesday, when it was super sunny and warm, I took the mutt for a run, tended to my garden and called a gal pal of mine to meet me at Jimmy Seas for some refreshing beverages. Can we say perfect day for me? Yes, yes we can.
Jimmy Seas is located in the Allouez area just off Monroe Street. It’s kind of off a hidden driveway that leads to the Fox River. Jimmy Seas has a huge outdoor patio that overlooks the river. My girlfriend and I wanted to catch the last little bit of sunshine so we opted
to sit outside. There are more than plenty of tables and chairs on their patio, but as the weather does get warmer or if they have live music, I’ve heard it’s difficult to find a table. It was about 7PM on a Tuesday, so the patio was practically ours. There is a bar outside, but it wasn’t open yet. I’m assuming it’s open on the weekends. A server will come out to the tables, whether you’re inside or out. On Tuesdays Jimmy Seas has $2.50 Coronas, Modelos and Pacificos. While that’s a good deal, I’ve been on my vodka soda water kick. We ordered two double tall Absolute and soda waters for $5.50 each. Jimmy Seas offers a full liquor bar, wine and bottled and tap beer. Some of the tap beer you can find are Blue Moon, Leinie’s, Miller Lite, Bud Light - you know, the favorites most bars carry.
While you do get a beautiful view of the marina and the Fox River from their patio, the inside of Jimmy Seas is pretty cool too. It’s dimly lit within and the bar is made of dark wood. Actually most of the interior is dark wood. There are different options for sitting: there are seats directly at the bar, hi-top tables sprinkled throughout and a couple of comfy couches to choose from. For the first drink we were outside, the next we ventured indoors to a hi-top, by the third we were on one of the couches. Thank goodness we didn’t stay for a fourth; we might have ended up on the floor :)
Bar Review of Jimmy Seas Green Bay, WI

So this is the fourth time I have gone to see music down at Jimmy Seas and I thought I knew the place pretty well, until tonight. I went down to Jimmy Seas to catch up with one of my absolute most favorite acoustic trio, The Water Bros and Casey Jones. I pull into the lot at about 9pm and it was packed. As soon as I got out of the car my ears were tuning for tunes. I could hear none so I got a little discouraged and moseyed on into Jimmy Seas. Now Jimmy Seas is a totally unique bar/restaurant hidden just off of Monroe St. down by the Fox River. If you're not boating on the Fox or down on Marine St. too often you probably have never seen or heard of the place. Heck, actually, I have lived in this town for quite a few years and only first heard of Jimmy Seas when I needed to attend a meeting there. Jackpot, this place is super cool! First and foremost I will admit I am a car guy. American or import it doesn't matter, if it has style or power I'm locked in like a heat seeking missile, like most guys and maybe even quite a few ladies, I'm sure. Jimmy Seas not only has a dock for boats they also have a dock for great cars to display! And you never know what type of wheels they will have, from Lambos to GTOs.
Ok, so I walk in, no band in sight, I cut over to the doors that lead out to the super long outside deck with lots of seating and there they are set up at the end of the deck. I just happened to come in between the second set and third set. That's cool. I chatted it up with Casey Jones and Greg Waters for a bit, and before long they were jamming again. I got a rum and Coke from the outside deck bar and also order the Chicken strips and fries. I strolled out on the pier for a couple of photos. The deck was packed with patrons despite the chilly night. I think that everyone was in really good spirits in contrast to the rain we had had all week. My chicken strips were up so I grabbed them at the bar and went over to my small two seat table in front of the Water Bros and Casey Jones that were now jamming out some great tunes, a little Bob Marley and Black Crows to be exact. The Chicken strips were about as good as chicken strips can be and were served on a bed of fries with a huge cup of ranch dipping sauce. The rum and coke was mixed perfectly; smooth, not too strong, and a good flavor. The atmosphere out on the deck was fun, the live music from The Water Bros and Casey Jones and Mike Cool got the patrons up and dancing and totally engaged. I can only imagine how awesome this place gets when the boats are docked on the pier mid-summer. Jimmy Seas is such a cool and laid back place with great service and they are always hosting live music out on the deck and inside. The place is well kept, classy and the decor is all about Seas and Fenders. But don't let the classiness of this place fool you into not coming down here for a good time. Two drinks and chicken strips set me back less than 20 bucks and the great live music and atmosphere were free.
I will add a few more photos to our facebook page.
