Bar Review of JD's in Green Bay, WI

My gal Friday and I were out and about Wednesday night. We were looking for trouble and ready to raise a ruckus. Not really. We were just looking for a cool place to have some cocktails and good conversation. But alas, we couldn’t agree on where to go. I wanted to go here, but she insisted on there. I tried with this place and she fired back with that place. So, while driving down Broadway, we both blurted out, “How ‘bout this one?” And by “this one” I mean JD’s. JD’s is located in the Historic Broadway District, right next door to Billy Goats. There is street parking directly in front of the bar, or you can park under the Mason Street Bridge, and that’s somewhat to the side and behind Billy Goats.
JD’s Bar is a long and slightly narrow space. The bar stretches along the left side, a small stage is on the front right side, and toward the back of the place is a separate door leading to the heated beer garden-pool table area. Smokers rejoice, you can smoke, drink, and play pool while staying covered and warm this winter. Also, in the back of the main part of JD’s is an ATM and a Golden Tee.
Lucky for us, well I should say lucky for everyone, JD’s offers drink specials and happy hour specials every day. Since it was a Wednesday JD’s has this spin the shiny, sparkly wheel thing. Every hour or ½ hour (I forget, sorry!!) the wheel is spun and you get retro drink pricing for what decade pops up. This is for all their drinks, but not shots. I thought that was pretty cool. So, when we arrived, a pint of vodka soda water and a bottle of Coors Light was $5.25. Just in case the retro wheel isn’t special enough, $1.50 Apple Pie Shots and $3 Jaggy Bombs are also
offered on Wednesday nights.
For the types of beverages served at JD’s, you have every type of liquor imaginable. Use your creative skills and come up with something tasty, or ask the super friendly bartender to surprise you. For beers on draught they offer Bud Light, Miller Lite and PBR. In bottles they carry plenty more of the domestic varieties, including a few New Glaurus options and a couple of IPA’s.
JD’s is one of those bars that seems to have something going on pretty much every night of the week. Except for Mondays, because that’s their day of rest. But they have free pool on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Karaoke is on Wednesday and Thursday nights. And DJs/bands spin/rock out on Fridays and Saturdays. What about Sundays, you ask? Well, Sundays are reserved for football. Duh.
