Restaurant Review of Hu Hot Green Bay, WI
By Patricia Summerfield
April 14th, 2008
If you are in the mood to be your own creative chef but do not want to do the cooking or the clean up try out Hu Hot Mongolian Grill. The concept behind Hu Hot is a fun idea where you can create your own stir fry meal by choosing from 50 different vegetables, seafood, meats, noodles and 12 different sauces. If you are not inclined to create your own meal they offer different recipes which are located on your table and you can bring to the buffet station. Hu Hot is a full service restaurant; our server was friendly and helpful in explaining how their system works. If you want an appetizer, salad, or dessert you order off the menu and they bring it to your table. You are allowed one bowl to fill up, but you can go back as often as you would like.
I ordered the weekend lunch for $8.99 which includes rice and tortilla wraps. The meat and seafood are frozen and pre-sliced for grilling. Once you fill your bowl you stand in line by a long counter while watching three cooks rotate quickly and systematically while preparing your meal. It is entertaining to watch, but also comes with a downside – waiting in line is rather chilly due to fans blowing cold air in the area in order to offset the heat from the massive wok. Hu Hot's food is good and certainly plentiful, but the quality lacks an intense richness of flavor. In addition to a lively atmosphere the restaurant offers a full bar to the side with large flat screen TVs.
