Restaurant Review of Hansen's Dairy and Deli in De Pere, WI

I stopped in for lunch at the recently opened Hansen's Dairy and Deli at their second location in east De Pere. The inside is very small, just enough seating to dine in for ten people, six stools at a counter looking out large picture windows and two very small table tops which can seat four people. There is a cooler case of assorted ice creams to choose from, a soda fountain machine, and above the register where you order and pay is a large chalk board listing their menu items. To the right of it is a large cooler case which contains their famous chocolate and white milk in glass bottles, ice cream, and pizzas.
I ordered the Chicago sub sandwich regular size for $6.49 and a cup of chicken noodle soup for $3.09. The cashier who took and rang up my order was having difficulty with the register.
She did not know some of the prices or how to work the machine and she had to interrupt a few times and ask the manager, who was busy filling orders on how to ring up my order. Of course meanwhile there was a small line developing behind me. After my order was rung up I noticed she accidently overcharged me for an extra cup of soup and had to redo the order. Even though it looked like the staff was very busy it took way too long for the food to come out. The sandwich was toasted on a whole wheat bun with pizza sauce thinly spread on the bun and topped with thinly sliced roast beef, mozzarella cheese, sauteed mushrooms, onions, and peppers. The sandwich was medium sized and the beef was extremely tender. It had two very thin slices of slightly melted mozzarella cheese and there was barely a tablespoon of the sauteed vegetables in the sandwich, in fact I had to open up my sandwich to look to see if they forgot to put any on. I could barely taste the vegetables and I could see there was very little actually on the sandwich. My soup definitely looked and tasted like it was reheated from yesterday, it was extremely thick with not much broth as soup gets from the noodles when you have a small amount left to reheat.
Hansen's staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean but the staff could use some additional training so service is quicker and smoother.
