Restaurant Review of Gilligan's Bar & Grill in Howard, WI
Gilligan’s Bar & Grill is located in Howard, just on the border of West Green Bay. Since I was in the area, I stopped in for a quick lunch. Gilligan’s Bar & Grill is one large open room. The bar part is directly in front when you walk in, and there are a few TVs hanging. To the right, there are tables for dining. In the dining area there is a pool table, one large flat screen TV, an unused fireplace (in the corner), and some game machines. They also have a large wooden patio off the dining area which is situated next to Duck Creek that would be great for warmer days. Hanging on the walls, they have a few black and white photos of the actors from the old comedy sitcom Gilligan’s Island, and painted on the large mirror behind the bar are the characters Marianne and Gilligan with cupid aiming a love arrow toward them.
I was quickly greeted by my server; she was extremely friendly and asked if I was ready to order. I decided on ordering the Cuban sandwich for $7.99 with French fries. As another side option, Gilligan’s also offers kettle chips. My sandwich came on a paper wrapper in a basket with my fries, alongside a dill pickle spear. The Cuban was huge. It was heavily filled with shredded pork, ham slices, two large slices of melted Swiss cheese, and sliced dill pickles, and all placed on a buttered grilled hoagie bun. My sandwich was hot and the hoagie bun was nicely grilled, the sandwich would have tasted awesome but the shredded pork, which surprised me, was spicy and extremely salty. So much so, that it overpowered the flavor of the ham and Swiss cheese. My French fries tasted very delicious, they were fresh with a nice seasoned crunch to them. Gilligan’s Bar & Grill is a friendly, comfy, casual place with comfort American foods.
