Bar Review of Getaway in Green Bay, WI

Another week, another bar adventure. This week my girlfriend said we should go out to Getaway. Before I could ask her where we should go to getaway, she was kindly explaining to me that that was the name of the place. Thank goodness she said something before I looked a fool as I did with my other friend when he suggested we go to The Bar. How am I supposed to know that Green Bay has this thing on naming bars verbs and nouns that confuse me when said aloud in a sentence?!? Anyway... The Getaway is located on the East side of Green Bay and I'm not sure how I missed it when I drove by. (You can leave your comments about women and directions and/or driving skills at home, thank you. In Chicago my friends would call me for directions; I knew how to get everywhere. Here, not so much. I am ALWAYS lost.) The Getaway is huge and from the outside it looks like a large home. Kinda hard to pass by.
There was plenty of parking in the back and so we walked in through the patio side. There was no one sitting in the patio area when we arrived and I thought that was strange, it was beautiful outside and for once not too humid. We entered the building and to my surprise everyone was inside enjoying the cool air. The air was blastin'. Also, as I said before that this place was big, well it is, but you don't see just how big until you go inside. There is a second story loft that you can go up and overlook the place. The staircase was blocked but maybe they open it later at night when there is a bigger crowd. Downstairs you have a large bar with tons of seats, big screen TVs, pool, darts and a friendly bartender. I ordered a Coors Light and my girlfriend ordered a Sam Adams Seasonal. The total came to $5.75. Nice. On tap they carry some Leinies, Sam, Blue Moon, Coors Light, Miller Lite and a few others. You can also choose bottles or any type of mixed drink imaginable.
Since it was really nice out we didn't waste anytime paying up and heading out to the patio.
And what is so great about their patio you ask? Horseshoes! I haven't played horseshoes since, well never. But I always wanted to try it out. They have four horseshoe battle fields for your enjoyment. And you will enjoy; playing horseshoes is fun! There are several tables and chairs if you feel like sitting instead of playing. You can also smoke in the patio and in the cooler weather there are heat lamps set up and ready to go. The Getaway has thought of everything. We hung around for a while and by the time we left the patio was filling up quick. The Getaway is a cool bar with some fun games and a nice outside area to bask in all the sun's glory.
