Review:
First, let me paint the picture. I am fifty something years old.I have lived in Southern California for the past 30 years. My mother lives in Green Bay. For the first time EVER in our lives, I was home for the holiday season and we were going to go out for a special holiday lunch. Mom picked The Elegant Moose, as it was convenient and the online menu looked intriguing.
The restaurant is lovely. Well decorated, with an interesting menu. We perused the menu, and decided on the wine we wanted while we waited for the wait staff. To commemorate the event I took a picture of mom, and as I always do when in a "memorable" restaurant, took a picture of the menu. A few moments later a woman came over to our table. I was sure that she was about to say "Welcome! Merry Christmas! Are you celebrating a special occasion today?"
Instead, the woman who had identified herself as the owner snarled "Did you take a photo of my menu?" "I did", I replied. "I don't allow photos of my menu!" says she. "Well, OK, I won't take another," I reply, thinking how odd this is, given that her menu is posted ON HER OWN WEBSITE for the world to see. The woman's voice rises and she angrily replies, "the last person that took photos of my menu opened a restaurant right here in town, with the same menu items." I respond, "I assure you that I have no interest in stealing your menu. I take photos for scrapbooking memories and to write on-line reviews." She responds, "I want you to leave, just get up and leave." "We will." I said.
It took me a moment or two to get my heavy winter coat on as I have three broken fingers, with six surgical pins in place, all bandaged, bruised, tender and mottled from the first surgery four weeks ago. We walked quietly to the door and the owner again circled around came up to me, PUT HER HANDS on my broken hand and pushed me through the door!!!! At this point, for the first time, I raised my voice. "I have three broken fingers, six pins in place, get your hands off of me" and out we walked.
I have sent an email to the business. I understand that this is a restaurant that is run by a mother daughter team and I requested a respnse from the daughter, but to date have heard nothing.
My dear mother was mortified. A precious holiday memory was ruined.
NO ONE deserves to be treated the way we were treated, and I would encourage all who read this review to take your precious dollars and find another independent restaurant with owners who welcome their business and show them the hospitality and warmth of spirit that the country's heartland is known for.

Decided to try something new-big mistake!! The decor is nice, trendy but the service was terrible. The place was packed with only 1 waitress and 1 cook. After 20 minutes the waitress brought us water and about 20 minutes later took our order. Our food (a lone crepe on a plate without garnish!) was delivered 1 1/4 hours after we sat down! People were leaving left and right at which point the owner rudely said "if people want fast food they should go to Burger King" she then said she shouldn't have to work but just stand at the door and take the money. When we asked for additional crackers (1/8th of a fried crepe) she told us we already had a refill! With her attitude I will be surprised if she stays in business.
