Restaurant Review of Cranky Pat's in Green Bay, WI

I went to have some pizza for dinner at the old Frank and Pat's whose name has been changed in recent years to Cranky Pat's; the same family owns it, just the name changed. The pizza parlor is located in Bellevue on the border of East Green Bay and has been in business since 1955. The original owners, Pat Earle and Frank Pierri, came from Chicago. The family just recently remodeled the restaurant with new carpeting, tan and cream colored brick pillars, white washed walls, and new light fixtures. When you first walk in directly in front of you is a small counter with the cash register and directly behind that you can watch the staff hand making your pizza. There were a large selection of tables to the left and to the right; there is also a claw machine for the kids to play and try to win a stuffed animal.
My server was all smiles and asked if I would like to start out with a beverage, they do carry a small wine and beer list. Besides pizza they also carry sandwiches and different pasta dishes. I ordered their 14 inch Pat's Special for $25.95. It is a thin crust pizza with double helpings of sausage and fresh mushrooms plus your choice of two extra ingredients, I chose double pepperoni and onions, the onions are free. My server then brought out plates and extra napkins and silverware. On the tables were condiments of dried parmesan cheese, dried hot pepper flakes, salt and black pepper and extra napkins. While talking with my server I found out that their pizza oven is still the original oven with four shelves that continuously rotate and evenly oven fire the pizzas.
My pizza arrived looking and smelling to die for; it was heavily covered with the ingredients that I had ordered. Now I Iove fresh mushrooms and they just loaded it on I have never yet, in all the pizzas that I have had which is a lot, had that many mushrooms on top. My pizza was nothing short of awesome. It tasted amazing, the crust so thin yet crunchy on the edges with no soggy middle and the ingredients all top quality just all blended together with a great salty earthiness. I am so glad that the recipe has not changed in over 50 years, why mess with something unique and delicious? You can bet I will be going back to Cranky Pat's again soon.
