Restaurant Review of Chef Chu's in Green Bay, WI

Egg Drop Soup and Egg Roll at Chef Chu's Green Bay, WisconsinGreen Bay Restaurant Reviews by Patricia SummerfieldBy Patricia Summerfield
    January 30, 2009
I was hungry for Chinese food for lunch so I decided to go to Chef Chu's. The interior is beautifully decorated and very clean. The first thing that catches the eye is the large clear glass waterfall; it immediately gives you a visual and has a relaxing sound. The tables and chairs have dark wood finishes, and the tile on the wall has hand drawn Chinese scenery. There is a long bar that separates the dining room and in the rear of the restaurant you can view all the cooks preparing the food through a glass window. It adds to the atmosphere as you occasionally see the flames flaring up and the delicious smells and quick actions of the cooks tease your taste buds.

The lunch menu has many choices available. Included with your entrée is a choice of steamed or fried rice, Dragon Phoenix at Chef Chu's in Green Bay, Wisconsina cup of wonton or egg drop soup, one egg roll, and of course Chinese fortune cookies at the end of the meal. For my entrée I chose the Dragon Phoenix with fried rice and egg drop soup for $7.95 with a pot of white tea for $3.50. The server was very friendly and most helpful when I asked her what ingredients were in certain dishes and there was no problem when I asked to have a different type of sauce other than the one which it is normally prepared in. My tea was served in a large pot and was very hot which I appreciated and my egg drop soup was a pleasing dark yellow in color and tasted smooth and delicate. The egg roll was served warm and seasoned well. My Dragon Phoenix was served in a ceramic fish shaped dish with my fried rice which was served in a cup. The Dragon Phoenix was very fresh and consisted of sliced chicken breast, shrimp, and fresh mixed vegetables of broccoli, mini corn, water chestnuts, and bamboo shoots. It is normally served in a white sauce, but I ordered it in a brown sauce; it was well prepared and very enjoyable. They have a different menu with more choices for the dinner hour as well.
