I stopped in for dinner at Champions Sports Bar & Grill which is located in Ashwaubenon on the West side of Green Bay. It is three quarters of a mile East of Lambeau Field. Champions atmosphere is casual and very noisy. The acoustics echo for it has very high vaulted ceilings and cement floors. The interior of the room is round and the circular bar is in the middle with many tables surrounding it. The walls are all plastered with autographed Packer pictures and Packer jersey shirts. Situated high above the bar and throughout the room are medium sized TVs and the audio is tuned into a sports channel. All the table tops are laminated reproduced black and white photos of the Packer team in play.

I sat myself at a table by the window and my server came to bring me their menu and asked to take a beverage order. I ordered a beer and I liked the fact that the beer was icy cold. I decided to order their Chicken Philly Sandwich for $6.99 which comes with potato chips. My waitress was very outgoing and helpful when I questioned her on different menu items. After a reasonable amount of time my sandwich was brought out to me and it was huge with a heaping amount of chips to the side. My sandwich was thickly filled with sautéed chicken, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, with melted mozzarella cheese served in a large white hoagie bun. The sandwich was very good and the potato chips were delicious. They make their chips in house and they were not greasy at all. My food and service at Champions Sports Bar & Grill were enjoyable but the poor acoustics were too deafening on my ears.

Seeing how the Packers are once again going to be champions of the world, I wanted to check out a Packer bar in the Lambeau Field area. Front and center you see Stadium View and Anduzzis but tucked away on a random side street is this little tiny (not so little and not so tiny) bar aptly named Champion’s Sports Bar & Grill. Going to watch the reigning champions win their Sunday battles at Champion’s Sports Bar just seems like fun, doesn’t it?
Anyway, I should tell you that Champion’s is located off of Tony Canadeo Road. Can-a-what-o? Yeah, I know, so just keep in mind its right by Brett Favre’s Steakhouse and Cambia Suites. Or, as Champion’s Sports Bar likes to say, “A Hail Mary from Lambeau Field.” Quite clever, they are. Some friends and I were in the neighborhood and we were very thirsty. So we rolled out and into Champion’s doors. I figured the place would be dead because it was Tuesday around 6PM, but I was wrong. The bar had a decent crowd and there were a few tables filled as well. This sports bar is big; it has more than enough room for you and your party friends, and then the rest of Green Bay. And if that gets too crowded for you, there’s some more room on their outside patio. Which may or may not be some enjoyable to you on these upcoming months. I hear it might even snow this year.

Looking inside Champion’s you have a large bar that’s in an oval type shape on the left side and lots and lots of hi top tables and regular sized tables surrounding the bar. Towards the back is more of a dining room setting with more of the regular sized tables. And in case you were wondering if this is a Packer bar, once you step inside you’ll have your answer, there are Packer jerseys, pictures and other random paraphernalia EVERYWHERE. Even some #4 gear. Cue the dramatic music now! Kidding. But seriously about all the Packer pride stuff, it would take you quite some time to look at all Champion’s has to offer. Your eyes will be very busy. Oh something really cool I want to mention, some of their hi top tables have old school black and white football photos blown up to cover the table top. I tried to take a picture of it, but it wouldn’t turn out right, the glare didn’t do the table justice so you’ll just have to go there yourself and take a peek. Dang, one more thing. Check out the Packer carpet stage area, what a trip! I L-O-V-E it. There is also a pool table, a dart board or two and many, many TV’s. Champion’s will keep you happily entertained.

As for the drinks that they carry, name it and they most likely have it. Champion’s has all the usual Bud, Miller and Coors products as do most bars plus they have some of the Leinie’s line too. Try the Oktoberfest from them, my friends liked it. And might I suggest the Coors Light? It’s fabulous. On draught they carry Miller Lite, Spotted Cow, Fat Tire, Coors Light, Bud and Sam Adams. As for liquor, they’ve got it all. While we wined and dined at Champion’s it happened to be during Happy Hour time. Happy Hour runs Mon – Thurs from 3PM to 7PM and on Fridays from 3PM to 6PM. My Coors Light was $1.75. That’s one dollar and seventy-five cents. Jumpin’ Cheese Curds, man what a steal -- I mean deal. The deals change daily so check out their website or call ‘em to see what’s good. I know they also have game day specials on well, game days, but again, you’ll have to call to find out or better yet, pop on over. As for another special Champion’s has, on Friday nights the Green Bay Chill is there. You know, the hot lingerie football chicks. When they’re not kicking ass on the field, they’re kicking ass at Champions ;)
