As a couple friends decided to meet me for lunch, someone suggested we check out A's on Broadway in East De Pere, a place new to me. I found this little bistro tucked in a quaint cozy space right in downtown amid good parking. Upon entering it is warm and friendly, with inviting decor, and soothing yet upbeat low music. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and promptly offered the specials of the day. I opted for their lunch special "Half Wrap & Cup of Soup" for $ 7.00. The soup for this day was "Creamy Butternut Squash". Not being a squash fan, I hesitated but decided to order it anyway.
Our food was served quickly but obviously made fresh. I was quite surprised how large a "Half" wrap was, and it was quite tasty, with fresh veggies and chicken and avocado slices. The best part of the meal was the homemade soup.....it was simply divine....and I was immediately sorry I hadn't ordered a large bowl instead of a cup!! My 2 dinner guests were equally impressed by this awesome version of butternut squash soup.
A's is a perfect place for friends to gather for conversation and great food. I had never been there before.....but the soup alone will draw me back !

Just wanted to say that after reading this review of A's Restaurant and many other reviews, you have got to be joking me. I can agree with only one thing that you had stated. Yes the sorbet was too sweet and it needs to be changed. As for the Asparagus tart, you said that the roasted red pepper and crust overpowered the asparagus. Can you please tell me how a pastry crust is going to overpower asparagus, when there is basically only a neutral butter flavor. The Smoked Salmon bisque was made from the bones of a smoked salmon and NOT from liquid smoke. To say that it was not savory, just blows me away. Maybe you need to start growing into your tastebuds. After reading many of your so-called reviews, I could only come up with one conclusion, pathetic. The quality of the food has always been consistently good and the waitstaff here are probably among the best. Maybe I should start writing for your little article, since I too have 30 years experience in the culinary field. Looks pretty easy, all you seem to write about is what the place looked like and if the windows were clean, was there any dust on floor, not having chocolate to curb your craving, or why didn't they have just plain butter for me. Next time you might want to have a little more tact when you write about a restaurant.
