How it took me a million years to go check out Aloft I'll never know. And technically it's W XYZ Bar, but it's inside the Aloft Hotel. And everyone I know calls it Aloft, not W XYZ. So when I say Aloft, I mean W XYZ Bar. Got it? Good.

It was a quiet Tuesday night and a girlfriend and I decided it was cocktail o'clock. Neither one of us had ever been to Aloft; and we thought now was the perfect time. Aloft Hotel is located in the Ashwaubenon area and the bar part is open for your drinking pleasure after 5PM daily. And when you walk into Aloft, it looks exactly like what the name says-- like a loft. It's just a large open spaced room filled with couches, lazy chairs and a full bar. It also looks so modern it's almost futuristic looking with its bright lights behind the bar, house music pulsing through the air and super straight-lined, tall backed couches. The couches also looked like they would be the most uncomfortable thing to sit on, but they're actually not bad. There is a patio, which would be awesome to sit out on during warmer weather but for now, we opted to stay indoors. The bartender was very friendly and there are a few spots to sit at the bar if relaxing on couches isn't your thing.

I ordered an Absolute and Soda and my friend ordered a Macallan with a splash of water. The total was $14.75 for both. But if expensive single malt scotch whisky drinks don't float your boat, Aloft has a fancy drink list with martini and other sippers alike. On draught they offer Bud Light, Miller Lite, Blue Moon, Stella and two Titletown beers. In bottles they have more domestic beauties from Bud, Coors and Miller and have a few imports such as Heineken and Corona. The domestic beers start at $3 and work their way upwards depending on the quality of beer. I was pleased to learn that with 3 bucks I could tap the Rockies if I wanted to. Aloft also carries red, white, and sparkling wines. Throughout the loft styled bar, there are TV's to watch, a ticker news streamer to watch and people to watch. There are also games sitting on tables like Jenga and Ker Plunk or variations of the sorts. When Aloft isn't DJ-ing house music they have acoustic musicians. I know as of lately Strum and Strummer have been playing on Wednesday nights around 6-ish. I was a little bummed to learn that I was a day early of seeing them perform, but then again, there are plenty of Wednesday's for me to catch them on.
