Allouez Cafe Description

Allouez Cafe is a family friendly restaurant in Green Bay which has been open for over 30 years and many patrons have been coming in for almost as long. The food, service, and slower pace keeps loyal customers coming back. The cafe is known for homemade desserts, fresh coffee, dinner specials, and daily fresh baked bread - over 48 loaves a day of white, wheat, and raisin. In 2008 Allouez Cafe decided to go smoke free and install new carpet and a fresh coat of paint at the same time. Little else has changed at the cafe since its opening. Breakfast is served all day and continues to be one of the most popular items. Allouez Cafe offers low-fat dressings, sugar and butter substitutes as well as decaf coffee. Fish, baked chicken, meatloaf, tuna salad, and chicken salad are staples a this cafe.

I've gone to Allouez Cafe on a number of different occasions and with each time I went, the service and food has been better than the time before! Whether you want a "good morning" meal, or a late night supper this is the place to go! Once you order the food it isn't long before you are ready to chomp down. Along with great and fast food, their workers are especially nice and fun to chat with. The restaurant meets the needs of people of all ages! Eating here just once will make you beg for more!

The food is bland - I assume because this the clientele are considerably elderly. The eggs I had for breakfast were rubbery. Not the worst meal I have had in town but I will not go there again (I've been there three times hoping the food quality and service would be better).

I have been going to this restaurant for years and they have great food and great service. Especially love the Friday night fish - one of the best places for perch in Green Bay I think. Often order the specials that aren't on the menu (love the turkey reuben!) On the menu I love the croissant sandwiches. Great family restaurant, great people.

I don't get the appeal of this place

I've tried this place twice because I love old style cafes.

The first time I ordered a Wisconsin standard: hot beef sandwich. from the description I expected actual home cooked beef. What I got was rubbery sliced deli beef smothered in packaged gravy so salty that I had to scrape it off because it was pickling my tongue.

Then I figured I'd be safe with an omelet. It was neither light nor fluffy, just basically a flat, fried scrambled egg wrapped around what tasted like Velveeta and canned mushrooms.

So if you're looking for an old style diner with great home made food, this isn't it.
