Restaurant Review of Your Secret Kitchen in Green Bay, WI

I just had lunch at a very charming cafe called Your Secret Kitchen. The exterior and interior gives you a cozy warm and homey feeling that reminded me of a European cafe. The interior still has the original old hardwood floors with tin ceilings and hanging on the walls were various antique baking and cooking utensils. There were clear glass cases filled with deli meats, gourmet cheeses, and homemade deli items. Your Secret Kitchen bakes old world breads on the premises and one wall has shelves displaying all the loaves for sale. By the register on the counter are huge clear glass jars filled with homemade cookies, and also for sale are various gourmet sauces and jams which are attractively arranged on small shelves in the front windows. The outside of the building has thick ivy growing and covering most of it and pretty striped colorful cloth awnings hanging over their large picture windows.
Your Secret Kitchen is very small inside with only four or five petite sized tables; the majority of their business is through takeout and catering. All the menu selections sounded very delicious and creative but I am partial to a good Rueben so I thought I would try that for $6.50 along with a cup of their homemade Belgian Booyah for $1.75. My soup arrived first with a packet of saltines. The broth was clear with tender pieces of chicken and vegetables such as green beans, cabbage, corn, carrots, potatoes, and onions. My booyah tasted delicious, the broth was made from good chicken stock and was well seasoned, not salty or greasy. My sandwich was presented attractively with seasoned kettle potato chips, a dill pickle spear, and one green onion slanted through a red pepper slice. Now to eat my sandwich... Ahhhh my Rueben was spot on perfect; it was grilled just right and filled with very lean good quality corned beef and cheese and with just enough sauce and sauerkraut so that it was not soggy at all.
I enjoyed the sauce on the sandwich for they make their own Russian dressing from scratch and do not use the usual pre-made dressing. The owner and server were both very warm and friendly and I enjoyed my lunch tremendously. I will have to go back to Your Secret Kitchen and have one of their breakfasts next time I am in the Howard Suamico area.
