Bar Review of Willow Creek Lanes in Green Bay, WI

My partner in crime and I were talking about the good ol’ days and birthday parties. I remember going to McDonalds for a birthday party and thinking it was so cool to get happy meals as party favors. I also remember going to a bowling birthday party and scoring really really well due to the bumpers in the gutters. Although I was young, I thought the bumpers were there for everyone and I couldn’t believe it was so easy to knock down all the pins. I must have been THAT good. Now-a-days bowling I’ve seemed to have lost my finesse. Rather, I’ve lost the bumpers that rocketed my mad skills. So where’s a good place to bowl on a weekday night? My partner in crime had an answer; Willow Creek Bowling was calling our names. On Monday nights they have dollar bowling. You heard that right, I said dollar. A dollar to rent shoes and a dollar to rent a lane. I believe it begins at 8PM but give them a call just in case.
When my girlfriends and I arrived, the parking lot looked kinda empty but when we stepped inside, the place was crowded. Willow Creek looks and smells like your typical bowling alley, you know, the bright lights and smoke smell. And the age range of people varied from little ones to not so little ones. I assumed that the only thing to do at bowling alleys was, well, self explanatory… bowl. But there were people sitting in the bar part mingling and playing that dice game I don’t get, some boys were playing pool, and you had a group of men sitting at one of the tables in the lounge area playing an intense card game. It seems to me that Green Bay already knew Willow Creek was a cool hangout spot. As many people as I saw bowling, you had just as many hanging out in the bar area. Most of the patrons were drinking bottled beer, but Willow Creek does offer draught. They carry Fat Tire, Miller Lite, 64, Coors Light, New Glarus, Bud Light, PBR, and Root Beer. The tappers were $3. I don’t believe they carry any wine, at least I didn’t see any, but they do have a full liquor bar. But everyone knows beer and bowling go hand in hand ;)
All in all it was a fun time on a random Monday night. And now that I know it’s so cheap to bowl, I can practice more often than never on my skills, or lack there of.
