For lunch I went to Urban Frog, it’s located in the Historic Broadway District in downtown Green Bay. Urban Frog is an organic and an environmentally green restaurant. Inside, it is a long rectangular open concept-type restaurant with many large picture windows, which gives it a nice bright atmosphere. The walls are painted in deep vibrant colors of yellows and reds. There are many metal frogs and also a huge mural of painted frogs on one of the main walls. There are many tables for dining and a small, relaxing area with a comfy sofa and stuffed chairs. Urban Frog has a huge menu with a variety of healthy beverages and foods, which are hand written on a chalk board and they also have menus by the counter where you order and pay for your food. Since I was dining in, I was given a small wooden block with a painted frog and an alphabet letter on it to bring back to my table. This makes it easy for them when they bring you out your food. Also, there is a table off to the side with extra silverware and a clear glass decanter full of fresh water on top.
I decided to order a Spiritual Spinach Salad for $7.25 and a half pound of their fresh house zucchini salad for $2.39. My food came quickly. My salad and zucchini salad looked very fresh and colorful. My salad consisted of fresh spinach, shredded carrots, black olives, artichoke hearts, feta cheese and soy nuts with a lemon wedge and flax oil on the side. The salad was medium in portion with a decent amount of ingredients and it tasted delicious. Now, I loved the zucchini salad, especially if you are watching your carbohydrates. The zucchini is ground through a machine which shreds the zucchini into spaghetti size strands and mixed with a garlic pesto basil sauce and sundried tomatoes. It’s a cold salad with a crunchy texture. The dish was coated and mixed well and had a great flavor. For your information, the zucchini salad is not listed on their menu but was one of the salads that day featured in their cooler case. It is so great to have a restaurant in the Green Bay and Brown County area that offers delicious, healthy and organic entrees.
