Restaurant Review of Tucson's in Green Bay, WI

For lunch I thought I would try Tucson"s Southwest Grill. As you walk in the hostess stand is out front, centered in the middle of the restaurant, and made with sturdy wood. The stand was decorated with garland and tiny colorful lights, and there is a black board with neon green writing featuring the specials of the day. To the right is Tucson"s bar lounge area with added seating if you choose to dine in there and to the left is the main dining area. The interior is richly and attractively designed in a Southwestern theme reminding me of Arizona. Throughout the restaurant there is beautiful woodwork with bright colors on the walls with different accent pieces and much detail in the design.
I was warmly greeted and brought to a booth right away and given a menu. My server came almost immediately and with a nice smile asked if I would like a beverage to start with, I also inquired about the special that day which was a Chalupa for $7.99. She explained to me how it was prepared and then left to get me ice water, which I had requested. I decided to try the Chalupa and ordered hot tea for $1.79. While I waited she brought me a basket of tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were fresh with a light crunchy texture and the salsa was also very fresh and had a little kick to it. My Chalupa came quickly; I ordered it with chicken instead of beef for those were the two choices that were offered. The Chalupa is made up of a deep fried tortilla filled with shredded chicken, shredded iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, finely shredded cheese, and a dollop of sour cream on top with a side of rice and beans. My chicken was soft with a salty flavor so, to jazz it up,
I poured my salsa on top which made it more favorable. The rice and beans had a nice texture with a good flavor. For my hot tea I was brought a cup containing a few different flavors of tea packets to choose from. My server then brought out a mug filled with hot water, two thin lemon slices on the side, and a small thermos filled with extra hot water. I liked the idea of the thermos with the extra hot water, but on the outside of the thermos were dried coffee or tea drops and the top of the thermos was missing so they just put a two ounce thin plastic cup on top. Now this would help somewhat to keep the water hot versus nothing at all but the recourse of using the plastic cup was tacky and also unappetizing since the thermos, as you could clearly see, was used and had not been freshly washed. I also noticed Tucson"s is children friendly for they offer crayons and paper for kids to keep busy while waiting for their meal.
