Restaurant Review of Rivers Bend Green Bay, WI

I had dinner at the Riversbend Supper Club, which is located in Howard and is situated on Duck Creek. I registered and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. I ordered a glass of wine at the large oval bar which has a partial view of the creek with woods and tall cattails surrounding it. The lounge area also has a large aquarium. The bar stools were exceptionally comfortable with cushioned backs that rock. That evening there was entertainment; one man playing an electric piano and singing songs from the 80's and 90's. His playing was more entertainment than a display of his vocal prowess. While I was waiting the bartender offered me a menu and asked if I had registered. After 20 minutes the server took my order and then after another 20 minutes I was seated at a table in the dining area where the walls are windows, and there is an eye-catching view of the creek and the woods. The tables were arranged tightly together so the server moved the table, but it was still a tight squeeze.
I ordered the baked white fish with roasted red potatoes; a loaf of white bread and the salad bar was also included. The salad bar had many choices including two soups – split pea with ham and an orzo soup. I chose the split pea soup. My salad was fresh and crisp, but my soup was dissatisfying, it had a very bland taste with peas and smoked ham. The white fish and potatoes were also a disappointment. The fish was over baked and my first two bites had a few bones in it. The potatoes were not palatable; they were very plain with no seasoning except for a few tablespoons of melted butter pooling at the bottom of the dish. The bread was warm but again lacked flavor. The server seeing that I did not eat my food, asked if I would like a different entrée or perhaps another cocktail, she could not have been more apologetic and sincere. I declined, but told her I enjoyed her service. When I left to pay the manager was at the register and asked what the problem was with the food. After I explained, he gave me a gift certificate hoping that I would give them another chance. On the envelope there was a hand written note from the server thanking me and asking me to come and try them again. Despite the flavorless meal, I commend and applaud the staff on their wonderful service and attention to the customer.
