For dinner I visited the restaurant and steakhouse, Prime Quarter which is located in Ashwaubenon on the west Side of Green Bay. As I got out of my car to enter the restaurant the delicious smell of grilled steaks bombarded my senses on a beautiful crisp fall evening. As I entered I was immediately impressed with the size of the interior for they have an extremely large seating capacity with a very large semi-circular bar lounge area which is on an upper level. The atmosphere was warm with muted gold lighting, ceiling fans, and silk plants situated throughout. All the tables were covered with brown colored vinyl tablecloths with a tiny gold leaf pattern. As I was waiting to be seated the bartender reassured me that someone would be with me shortly. The hostess then greeted me with a friendly smile and seated me at a table which she told me was a nice spot for viewing people. I also noticed a bulletin board hanging on one of the back walls displaying photographs of various customers wearing medallions. You become an instant member of Prime Quarter's Beefeater
Club and receive the medallion if you complete a meal of a 40 ounce Top Sirloin steak including one trip to the salad bar, a baked potato, and a slice of their Texas toast. In fact, that evening I noticed one proud diner who was wearing his medallion.
My server came and explained the two seafood features that night which were Mahi Mahi and Ahi Tuna if you chose not to have a steak. Since they specialize in steaks I decided on ordering the 9-10 ounce Filet Mignon grilled by the chef for $21.95 with a side of sauteed mushrooms and onions for an extra $2.50. Included with the dinner are Texas toast, all you can eat salad bar, and a baked potato. Now the fun part is that there is cooler case where you can pick out your own cut of meat and you have the choice of grilling your own steak on one of their two massive charcoal grills or for $2.00 extra have them grill it for you. I chose to let them grill it for me but I did notice a lot of people who chose to grill their own and were enjoying socializing with everyone else who also chose to grill their own. As I was waiting for my steak the hostess was right, it was a great spot to watch all the action, everyone was having a fun time picking out their own steaks and going to the salad bar. I was very impressed with how clean the restaurant was and how efficiently the staff was working, from the bartender's acknowledgment to the constant refilling of the salad bar to the very attentive service. At the salad bar the plates are all kept chilled and they had a nice choice of sides to put on your lettuce plus a few side dishes.
I saw that they use the brand Wonder Bread for their Texas Toast on the grill. My steak arrived with the toast, mushrooms and onions, and a large baked potato with sour cream and butter on the side. You also have a choice of seasonings for your steak if you would like, but I just requested salt and pepper on mine. Now the true test was the doneness, flavor, and tenderness of the steak. I'm happy to report that it passed with flying colors. The steak was nicely seared with perfect grill marks on the top and bottom, the filet was extremely tender and succulent with great flavor shining through. The mushrooms and onions were also plentiful and my toast was grilled to a nice rich brown and evenly buttered. Prime Quarter Steakhouse provided a very enjoyable meal and I left feeling happy and satisfied.
