Looking for a nice spot for an early supper....my family and I decided to give Olive Garden a visit. There is always a waiting crowd once the evening mealtime approaches....so we thought we might sneak in early and avoid the rush !! We were delighted to be seated almost immediately, and were first treated to a free sample of our choice of wine, which in this case was a tasty red version. 2 of us ordered the tall, chilly, refreshing strawberry/mango limonata, and our remaining diner ordered a fun imported beer from England which he declared to be delicious !
As always at Olive Garden, we began our meal with the wonderful endless house salad. 2 of us ordered the Steak Tuscano... a wonderful steak with great seasoning crusted on the outside served with potatoes and grilled peppers. Our 3rd diner enjoyed the Shrimp & Crab Tortelli Romana, which tasted as great as it looked !! The portions were perfectly sized....large enough to fill us up completely, but not so much we had to overstuff.
Our server Ken was extremely professional, knowledgeable about each specialty the restaurant served, and obviously enthusiastic about his craft. The only advisement I would offer to those considering Olive Garden would be to remember this is a bit of an upscale restaurant compared to the dozens of other sitdown selections on Oneida Street, and is therefore a bit more pricey. Our meal for 3 including drinks, tax and tip was roughly $ 85.00. It most certainly was worth it, but definitely was considered a "special" night out. If you go on any night after 5.......be prepared to wait, but many consider it worth it, as you will usually find the Olive Garden filled to capacity.......plus a hearty group of waiting hopefuls......who are willing to around to enjoy the best Italian food around !!!
