Restaurant Review of Los Magueyes in Green Bay, WI
By Patricia Summerfield
May 27, 2011
For dinner I went to dine on some Mexican food at Los Magueyes at their Ashwaubenon location. They offer authentic Mexican fair with a full bar. As you walk in there is a large bar and to the left and right are different areas for dining with many booths for seating. The walls have Mexican decor with some painted scenery on the walls. There are large windows in the dining area toward the back on the left side. The lighting is on the dim side and there is a chalkboard stationed by the entrance stating some of the specials of the day.
I was seated in the dining area towards the front to the left as you walk in. All the booths are semi-circular and face each other from across the aisle. Their menu is a vast one with many selections to choose from. The server was friendly and quick. He brought out a complimentary basket of tortilla chips and a mini glass carafe filled with salsa and a small bowl. I ordered one of their specialty entrees, a fajita salad for $7.49. You have a choice of grilled chicken breast or beef and I chose the chicken. The chips were very fresh and were light and crispy and the salsa was fresh with more of a tomato flavor with just a hint of spice. The fajita salad was served in a shell bowl and was medium in portion. On the bottom was a good amount of chicken slices which had great flavor and were very tender.
The chicken was mixed together with the sauteed green peppers, onions, and tomatoes. Placed on top was fresh shredded iceberg lettuce, a dollop of sour cream, and some shredded cheddar cheese. The salad was fresh and blended well with everything. Los Magueyes is yet another good Mexican restaurant in the Brown County area.
