Restaurant Review of Gilly's Frozen Custard in Green Bay, WI

I went for lunch at Gilly's, which is a frozen custard drive-in, located on the far West side of Green Bay. Gilly's offers car hop service from the end of February through Thanksgiving, but don't fret they do have a drive through service and indoor restaurant year round. The interior of the restaurant is bright, cheery and immaculate. The style of decor goes back to the 50's era. All their large booths are situated by large picture windows and there are also many tables. All the chairs and booths are vinyl and made out of blue and gold colors with the chairs having shiny chrome legs and chrome pedestals for the table tops. The flooring has blue and white tiles and the walls also have white shiny tiles.
I ordered their Gillyburger for $2.10 with a side of regular French Fries for $1.50 and a medium fresh brewed ice tea for $1.50. For dessert, I ordered a Turtle Sundae for
$3.45. The Gillyburger is a sloppy Joe and is served on a soft white sesame topped bun. The sandwich was small and the sauce mixed in with the ground hamburger had less than a tantalizing flavor; it had a salty sweet taste to it. But the bun was fresh and soft which is what a sloppy Joe sandwich is best served on. The French Fries were great, very fresh and done to a light brown. The ice tea was also very good and refreshing. My sundae was extremely delicious. Their custard is very creamy with a wonderful sweet vanilla flavor. There were plenty of nice sized fresh pecans on top of the warm melted hot fudge. And of course, to top it all off, a maraschino cherry. The service throughout my lunch was very good, out of the way and ready to please the customer with a friendly manner. In the warmer months it will be fun to have the option of going out to a car hop with tray service which brings back the nostalgia of the 50's.
