Restaurant Review of Chili's in Green Bay, WI

I went for lunch at the restaurant chain Chili's Bar & Grill which is located on the far West side of Green Bay. As soon as I walked in the door the hostess smiled at me with a friendly greeting and brought me to my table. To the right of the restaurant is the bar lounge area and to the left is the dining area; it is an open concept with high ceilings of wooden rafters. The decor is eclectic with a mix match of materials. There is a little stone work, metal work, and wood. There are various green plants in a variety of planters situated beside each booth and the lighting above each table is contemporary style of tiny blue glass spot lights. The acoustics in the room were noisy and echoed throughout.
My server was very prompt and outgoing and asked if I would like a beverage to start out with; I decided to just have ice water which was served to me in a clear plastic mug. I ordered one of Chili's new sandwiches for $8.49 called the Steakhouse Sandwich which consisted of sliced sirloin, melted provolone, caramelized onions, arugula with a horseradish sauce served on flatbread. My server pointed out to me I had a choice of any side, so I decided on the spicy coleslaw. She explained to me that it had a little jalapeno and black pepper in it. My fork and knife was rolled into a thin paper napkin and I requested more napkins when my meal was brought out to me. The sandwich and side of coleslaw was plainly served on a white plate with absolutely no garnish to adorn it. My sandwich looked unappetizing and tasted extremely salty, the steak was chewy with some gristle in it and there was more flatbread than filling. Even the horseradish sauce had an overpowering taste of salt. My coleslaw was minced and warm with no crunch and had a slightly peppery bland flavor. My server asked if everything was all right and I told her I did not care for the coleslaw, she was very nice and offered me a different choice to replace it with so I ordered their homemade french fries. My fries came in a basket and I was not impressed with the texture or quality of them; they were pre-frozen with an airy texture and a mediocre flavor. The best thing I can say for my dining experience at Chili's is that the service was very good.
