I am not into short reviews but there is not much to say. I went here twice and all I can say is expensive, poor service (almost a clique among the regulars), long wait, uncomfortable. Anybody who enjoys this atmosphere must be a redneck.

Unfortunately I decided to give Box Car Billy’s another chance. I was once again greeted with ample atmosphere fitting of a typical Friday night of a northern WI fish fry, good old fashions, good bar staff and wait staff.
I ordered the baked haddock with a baked potato…simple fare. My wife had the broiled shrimp also with a baked potato…french fries seemed beneath the menu price. My entree did not come with a salad or soup, albeit for $4 dollars more I could have …
Again the drinks were very ample and the waitress seemed more than happy to serve us another, perhaps an attempt to burden the bill and the overall cost to increase the tip….a tactic I fully respect when the food is lacking.
Promptly our food arrived…some measly shrimp and over cooked haddock. The potato obviously had been sitting for quite some time in a warmer. The haddock was also stored in a warmer perhaps beneath the potatoes. I regretfully did not use any butter or sour cream. The shrimp, I was told, swam in a pool of butter and garlic salt. Five shrimp…..not jumbo shrimp...but five 24 -32 count per lb….you do the math….thank goodness the salad and soup made up for the price difference.
Did I complain?....yes … I asked for the proprietor…unavailable…. I proceeded explain to the apparently next in line that the food compared to a popular buffet …did I get any redemption? Unlikely…, we even ordered a dessert drink…In the end let’s say for $70 in tips and drink I felt I was ripped off….there are far better places to be insulted by better people, which is unfortunate because I really liked the drinks, maybe that’s how they make their money…over-severing…
