Restaurant Review of Bilotti's in De Pere, WI

Bilotti's is an established Italian restaurant in east De Pere. In fact, they are the self-proclaimed oldest Italian restaurant in Brown County, having opened in 1956. I stopped there for lunch while in the area. The restaurant's seating capacity is very deceiving, it looks like it would be rather small from the outside however the inside runs very deep. As you walk in there is a small cozy bar and lounge area which looks like it is still the original design from the 1950's and very reminiscent of some the old bar lounges from downtown Green Bay that have since been razed. The atmosphere of the lounge is not only cozy but it also has the effect of being in an old Las Vegas bar. There is seating with many booths and tables to the right and a smaller dining area to the left with a large backroom for more private parties. The main colors are hunter green and maroon, with Italian pictures and décor hanging on soft sand colored brick walls. Towards the back of the larger dining room are tall white columns with hanging silk ivy plants and a few busts situated on top. In the smaller dining area the walls have hand painted murals with more of a casual look than the other dining area. Red votive candles with napkin dispensers were on all the tables and old crooners, such as Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett were singing in the background. The restaurant was very clean and well kept.
I was offered a choice to sit anywhere in the restaurant and was then seated and given a menu and my server then took my beverage order. Bilotti's menu is made up of pasta, pizza, and sandwich selections. I decided to try their pizza, the 10 inch Bilotti's special for $12.95. The pizza's toppings were sausage, pepperoni, green peppers, onions, and a choice of either fresh or canned mushrooms, I chose fresh. The pizza came out nice and hot. It was thin crust, but the toppings were sparse and there were only six very small mushroom slices on the whole pizza. The pizza had a good flavor but the service and atmosphere is what stood out most during my lunch.
