Restaurant Review of Bangkok Garden in Green Bay, WI

I decided to go dine on some original Thai cuisine for lunch at the Bangkok Garden restaurant which is located on the west side of Green Bay in the historic Broadway district. Bangkok's interior has a lot of detail to it. There are many Asian themed ornamental pieces hanging on the walls, and the restaurant has some of the original spindle woodwork intact. The flooring is original hardwood which has been refurbished and there are soft sand colored brick walls and a variety of green silk plants and flowers hanging and situated throughout the interior. There are two levels to the restaurant, an upper level which has large comfy booths and tables that overlook the much lower level dining area which contain more booths and tables that are partially surrounded by large picture windows. Bangkok has a comfortable atmosphere with very soothing relaxing music playing in the background.
Bangkok Garden offers a lunch buffet from Monday to Friday, but I usually prefer ordering an entrée off the menu at all restaurants because the quality of food is usually higher and it tastes fresher. Both their lunch and dinner menu have many selections. Bangkok also has a full bar offering many specialty drinks and a nice wine list. I started out with a bowl of lemon grass soup for $3.50 and for the entrée I ordered the cabbage salad with a choice of either shrimp or chicken, and I chose the chicken for $7.95.
My server was very polite and attentive and I appreciated that since she was the only one working and it was starting to get busy. The soup was brought out first looking very enticing. It was replete with large straw mushrooms, thinly sliced chicken breast, and fresh tomato pieces with cilantro floating on top. The soup was warm and resonated wonderfully with my taste buds; it was so fresh with a delicate lemony and slightly salty flavor and with just the barest hint of a bite to it. After the bowl was cleared away the salad was served next. It was a good portion and consisted of nicely chopped fresh cabbage, sliced chicken breast, carrots, tomatoes, red onion, ground peanuts
with a few whole peanuts mixed in, basil, mint, and cilantro in a Thai sweet sour and salty chili sauce. Again all the ingredients were very fresh with a myriad of flavors it just bloomed in my mouth, simply delicious. To round off my meal I opted for dessert, I ordered the mango and sticky rice for $3.50. It was served with the sticky rice in the middle with small pieces of mango laid along each side. The sticky rice was sweetened with coconut milk and sugar and the tanginess of the mango set it off nicely. It was such a delightful dining experience I definitely want to go back to Bangkok Garden in the evening and order off their dinner menu.
