Restaurant Review of Applebee's in Green Bay, WI

I went to lunch at the Applebee's on Green Bay's east side near the East Town Mall. The restaurant has a large horseshoe shaped bar centered in middle with a few flat screen TVs overhead. It is bright and on all three walls are large picture windows with many booths and tables to dine at. The atmosphere is lively and casual and Applebee's offers an array of specialty drinks and entree's.
Applebee's menu has the nice addition of heart healthy items and, if you are a weight watchers member, certain dishes have the points pre-calculated. I decided to start with their Wonton Tacos for $6.49 and for the entree I chose their newly introduced salad, the Bruschetta Chicken salad, for $7.99. The tacos were brought out first with an appealing presentation; I ordered the pork filling instead of chicken. The shredded pork was stuffed into four small wonton shells topped with Asian slaw and chopped cilantro. The shells were light and crispy and the pork tasted like a sweet barbecue sauce which had a good flavor, but it did not have the Asian flavor that I had expected.
The salad consisted of grilled chicken breast served on a bed of Romaine lettuce tossed with Champagne vinaigrette and topped with bruschetta, tomatoes, red onions, kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, mozzarella croutons, and finished with a balsamic glaze. The presentation of the salad was not impressive and the balsamic glaze definitely overpowered the whole flavor of the salad. The flavor of the champagne vinaigrette could barely be detected let alone the let alone the red peppers and tomato. The mozzarella croutons were deep fried mozzarella pieces which were placed on the edges of the plate. Applebee's service throughout the meal was very attentive and friendly.
